Alexander Rovt

Real estate investor and international businessman Dr. Alexander Rovt, was born in Mukachevo - now part of Ukraine. He graduated from the Lviv Trade and Economic Institute with a doctorate in Economics and afterwards received a PhD in Worldwide Economics. He emigrated to Hungary where he worked his way up to head of sales at a state-owned vegetable distributor.

In 1985 Rovt decided to emigrate to America where he eventually was hired by the IBE Trade Corporation. His connections within the Eastern bloc combined with his understanding of the fertilizer industry allowed IBE to expand its operations to the Soviet Union. Rovt ultimately bought the firm and IBE soon controlled 70% of Russian and Ukrainian Ammonia trade.

Rovt started putting his money into real estate, purchasing a rental building in Brooklyn first. In 2012, he purchased 14 Wall Street. He now has a vast portfolio of buildings in New York City but has also recently expanded overseas with hotels in Canada and Budapest.

Rovt is also an important philanthropist. His most recent project was partially funding a cardiology department at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn.
